Theater for One is perfect theater. It is immediate, startling, and essential. It is about
communion and community. It is old school and new world. Its intimacy and impact never fail to
shock, satisfy, and hook both theater veterans and theater newbies.

I experienced TFO at its final dress rehearsal at Juilliard. Although it involves a one-on-one
experience, I was profoundly moved by how involved all the students were in the ritual of creating
the event. It bonded them as an ensemble. They decorated invitations for each audience member with
great care, they watched the monitor with rapt attention, and they slyly kept the secret that
awaited me in the magic box. I entered. I gasped. It felt very otherworldly. Part vaudville, part
the spaceship. So dimensional. The actor appeared and proceeded to tell me the story of my life, in
prose form. I had no idea that the piece had been written for me. It ambushed me entirely. It rocked
me. It astonished me. It renewed my faith in storytelling and theater. I am forever grateful.

Theater for One
IS Christine Jones. It is sexy, fantastical, hilarious, beautiful, witty,
intense, and wondrous. Christine, unlike anyone I know, has an appetite and appreciation for the
stories of others. She listens deeply and shares boundlessly. Christine is a profound artist, in
vision and in practice. And, as this website reveals, she never ceases to give credit and spread
love.

Theatre For One is one of the most exciting adventures I’ve had in the theatre. It involves
playwright, actor and the audience (of one) in a uniquely intimate and mystical experience. Both
times that I have participated as an audience member, I felt emotionally shaken and spiritually
replenished. Christine Jones returns the theatre to the realms of primal ideas and emotions. And
it’s a hell of a lot of fun too!
